BlogWelcome To My World: October 2026
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month.
October marks Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time dedicated to increasing understanding, raising awareness, and celebrating the achievements of individuals with dyslexia. At the Central New York Children’s Dyslexia Center, we are especially grateful for the opportunity to support our students as they build the skills, confidence, and strategies they need to become successful readers.
Tutoring began on September 21, and we are excited to welcome 18 children to the Center this year. Our students have already begun settling into their tutoring routines and working hard toward their individual goals. Each student brings unique strengths and challenges to the learning process, and we are proud to be part of their journey.
This year, our tutoring program is supported by seven experienced tutors, along with two initial-level tutor trainees and one advanced-level tutor trainee. Their dedication to learning and providing evidence-based instruction is an important part of the Center’s continued success. We are grateful for the time, commitment, and care that our entire tutoring team gives to our students.
Dyslexia Awareness Month also provides an opportunity to remind our community about the importance of early identification, appropriate intervention, and evidence-based instruction for children with dyslexia. With the right support and instruction, children can develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
We are also looking forward to upcoming fundraising opportunities that help support the important work of the Center. These events not only provide essential resources for our program but also bring families, volunteers, and community members together in support of our students.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our board, tutors, tutor trainees, families, volunteers, and generous supporters. Your continued commitment makes it possible for us to provide our students with the specialized instruction and encouragement they need.
Together, we continue to create brighter futures—one reader at a time.
