I must take this moment to share the appreciation of all who are supporting, with cards and prayers, our Board Chair, Steve Park and his wife Jan, after the loss of their son David. This tragedy has hit hard for many.
It does not seem possible that we are nearing the end of the Academic Year for the Tutor-Scholars and the children. All of the scholars have been doing a great job and I have no doubts that they will all receive their certification this summer.
The children have been making positive strides and we will be assessing their progress in the next two months (this is a time when all of the required observations are completed, post-assessments and family meetings are scheduled and Sandy and I pray no one is absent.)
I want to bring you up to speed on some of the children you have heard about this year. Austin continues to progress and is thinking about his future, now that he has his GED. DeAnna has made great strides and is planning to return next year (providing we can hire enough returning tutors) and Bryce will be attending the National Boy Scout Jamboree this summer at Fort AP Hill, VA. I also wanted to make sure that I let you know that Ashley, the daughter of one of our Board members, was the recipient of a Merit Award at her school earlier this year.
It is wonderful to share the successes of our children outside of the Center but we are especially happy for the progress all of the children make at the Center. As always, this is due to your continued support in these difficult economic times and with budget cuts from Lexington.
We also want to thank the DeMolay for their support of the Learning Centers.
