All of us at the Center wish you a Blessed Holiday!
The first thing I would like to do is usually how I close:
I want to thank you for your generous support of the Center by way of helping us to meet our goal of $5000 for the annual Walk-a-Thon (If you weren’t one of those, feel free to get us off to a great start for next year!)
That being done, I want to give you a little update on Jeffrey. Jeffrey came to the Center with the knowledge of most of the basic sound-letter concepts but did not have ‘ownership’ of the basic concepts needed for reading and spelling. To date he has worked on four of those. Jeffrey has really become vested in the program and is ready to try and interact. We may have thought our Thanksgiving break was brief, but for Jeffrey it was long enough for his mind’s eye to lose track of some of the new material he has been working on. His tutor plans to review all of that material to make sure he has better control of it before the next, much longer Holiday break.
Now, to address the “Good Tears-Bad Tears”! One of the parents came to me in tears last week-but they were
Good Tears. She told me that she had attended her child’s IEP (Individual Education Plan) meeting and, for the first time, had not left the meeting in tears (those being the Bad Tears.) The panel of classroom teacher, special education teacher, school psychologist, etc. had all commented on the progress her child had been making this year. This mother attributes that success, in great part, to what has happened at the Center.
So, I have to close with this anyway- for the continuing gifts you give our children- Thank You All!!
