"The End of an Era"
I regret that I am unable to join you for Council of Deliberation this year. It is always a highlight and a to connect personally with so many of you that support our Centers. I am very happy to have Erica, who was one of our first graduates, speak on our behalf, as well as her mother who is now a board member for Central New York.
These are not my words, but could be without your support. You may or may not know that, due to the economic downturn, Headquarters has had to make some difficult decisions regarding funding for Learning Centers. Some have already been ‘cut loose’ and the following is from the director of a Center that will not survive on its own:
The 32 Degree Masonic Learning Center in Wilmington, Delaware is the only center out of 59 that will close the doors forever on May 21, 2009.
The end of an era
|
What can I say?
The center is closing
The economic crisis has hit
We have done so much good for the future
We have so much more to do
We will still work hard
We will work hard to succeed
We must keep our confidence and strong character
We will survive
It is not easy having an invisible disability
We have good brains, we just learn differently
It has been wonderful to have the best dedicated and certified instructors that The Grand could offer
We will miss all of our friends
And especially the support system
…the community …….and ALL that made our lives have more meaning because they were a part of it
We made the best of what could have been much less
We listened to books on the radio on our drive
We are thankful for all the Masons have provided
It has been a joy and a privilege to be a part of such a committed organization and program
It would have been so much more difficult and close to impossible—no it would have been impossible to do alone—it would have not been the same
The boys are advanced on their state tests—you provided that wonderful feeling and helped make that accomplishment a possibility
Willa is 2/5th’s of the way through and on her way-
Slow and steady, she will win this race
It will be difficult, but we do not know easy
Words cannot express our sadness—we will miss you all
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts-

My thanks to all of the Valleys and Masonic fraternity for all you do to keep the New York Centers going.
